Cable theft causes extended power outage in Pearly Beach

We are aware of the current power outage in the Pearly Beach area since 04:00 this morning, 15 February 2024. The outage is due to cable theft.

A case of damage to, and theft of electrical infrastructure was opened at the Gansbaai Police Station.

The cable is currently in the process of being repaired, but the technicians are not clear how long it will take them to restore the problem due to weather conditions.

The public can contact the Anti-fraud toll-free number 0860 044 044 or report vandalism and theft telephonically to SAPS Gansbaai on 028 384 0200, or via the Municipal Collaborator Citizen App under electricity faults or phone the Overstrand Municipal Services Control Room on 028 313 8111.
